Glad you like the cabinets!
For attaching cabinets to each other, we recommend using a 1.25″ cabinet installation screw or a coarse-thread construction screw like the one shown below, available at Home Depot. For installing cabinets to wall studs, I prefer using a 3″ version of the same screw.
We typically don’t carry cabinet installation screws, as installation requirements can vary depending on factors like metal or wood studs, concrete walls, and more. Additionally, screws are expensive, have low margins, and are heavy to ship. It’s usually best to source them locally, as they are readily available.

We do not use lacquer for a finish. Barker currently uses conversion varnish (solvent) paints for a durable end product. You can certainly order any material you want including the oaks if you prefer for a painted wood door. We no longer use MDF, and have since replaced with HDF for all mdf labeled products. We can spray any and all wood types offered, but some materials will have more pronounced grain showing through as a texture under the paint.

You can order this cabinet and request a size adjustment in the order notes to match a 36″ x 36″ tall 45 cabinet. The maximum width/depth for a Wall 45 cabinet is 27″, but we can customize it to 36″ x 36″ if specified in the order notes at checkout. Just don’t forget to include the note!

We offer a CLEARCOAT finish option with a natural matte sheen. Alternatively, you can order your doors in raw wood and apply your preferred finish on-site. Some new waterborne wipe-on finishes are ultra-matte and barely noticeable. Our CLEARCOAT finish has a matte sheen, as shown in this video:

We have limited options for files drawers. Here is one:
https://www.barkercabinets.com/2-drawer-file-cabinet-letter-sized-files-p/b2drfilecabinet.htmAs for rollouts behind the doors, you can select rollouts as an addition to any of our base door cabinets. Note there is a dropdown option that lists “pull out shelves” as an option:

A “U”-shaped drawer box is costly and compromises the integrity of the drawer itself. We do not offer this configuration. The best option is to use a sink base cabinet for your sink, with drawer base cabinets on either side. This setup provides plumbing flexibility while maximizing drawer storage.

Barker offers more height options for drawer boxes, including 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12”. In contrast, the City line has fewer options, with only 4”, 6”, 8”, and 10” available. This limitation is due to the need to import drawer stock for the City line, which helps maintain a consistent supply for production. However, the absence of a 3” drawer box in the City line restricts our ability to offer a four-drawer base cabinet under 34.5” in height.

Yeah, having one horizontal and another vertical is crazy if a company is trying to pass that off as acceptable. For our slab plywood doors the grain is always vertical. Our plywood has A grade veneers with careful consideration to color and tone. The issue is having grain run perfectly from one door to another and from a lower drawer font to the one on top. Just not feasible and it gets worse if a front is damaged and needs replacement. It’s still a well reviewed style that we offer.
Yeah, Sapele is highly underrated as a wood type currently. Seems like everyone orders white paint and white oak with a clear finish. As for Sapele, it has one of the nicest smells, textures, and classy feel of all the wood types offered IMO. Side note, I sometimes take the fall-off pieces of wood home and burn batches of the rejected Sapele in my fireplace. I cannot describe the smell of burning Sapele, but I would say it has a sweet smell that is very unusual.
Boise is awesome, I used that style in my home. The applied molding has a classy feel and is a very nice elegant style IMO.

Yes, tall cabinet stack total height and the overall height of the tall end panel should be the same height. Just increase your crown molding package height as needed.

1. Currently, the Los Angeles style is not available in City Cabinets. City focuses on quality, speed, and price. While the Los Angeles style is certainly high quality, it takes a long time to produce, and the skilled labor required for mitering, attaching, and hand-sanding does not align with the speed and price goals.
For the Los Angeles style, please check out Barker Cabinets, which offers more options like this.
2. The Slab Plywood Door style has a long history, but it comes with significant challenges. The biggest issue is grain matching and managing customer expectations. In the past, we’ve had customers agree that grain matching wouldn’t be available, and we shipped the doors accordingly. However, if a door was damaged in transit, replacing it became a major challenge. The new door wouldn’t be from the same batch, sheet, or even tree, leading to substantial differences in color and grain. This often resulted in customers requesting a complete remake of all doors at no cost due to transit damage—something the carrier never covers. Ultimately, this created frustration for both the customer and the vendor, often ending in negative experiences for both parties.
To solve these issues, we launched BarkerModern.com. Our modern line eliminates these problems by using Italian laminate, which is highly realistic, offers consistent color and grain tone, and allows for easy replacement—even years later—with nearly identical results. Since the material features an engineered core, large sheet sizes, and a durable laminate finish, it is stronger, more affordable, and overall more beautiful.
Personally, I have to touch these Italian doors to tell if they are real wood or laminate—they’re just that good.

The easiest solution is to increase the height of your crown package by 1″ to 2″ if you’re extending the cabinets to the ceiling. For a 96″ ceiling, use a 5″ to 6″ crown package instead of a 4″.
Crown packages in 4″, 5″, and 6″ heights consist of two separate pieces that can be adjusted up or down on the backer. You can order a tall end panel and corresponding cabinet stack at 90.75″ and use a 5″ crown package with minimal floating adjustment (about 1/4″) during installation. This allows for flexibility when attaching the crown molding to the backer.

Sure! See the attached samples for cherry and alder. I don’t have a walnut door sample because the Clear, Chestnut, and Tamarack stains look nearly identical on walnut since it’s already so dark. The stain doesn’t make much of a difference. For walnut, I recommend the Chestnut stain, as it helps even out grain color variations.

We don’t offer pocket doors on cabinets due to various issues we’ve encountered in the past. Proper door sizing and hardware installation can be challenging, often leading to errors, and the hardware itself tends to be unreliable. Instead, we recommend a simple two-door wall cabinet that opens normally without retracting into the cabinet case.

Currently, no. We use a large-scale finishing process that requires sourcing significant quantities of paint. Custom color matching is not available, as it would disrupt production flow. Our paint line operates with large batches to ensure proper functionality, efficiency, and profitability.
Here’s a look at the process:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcGp7AjCcLEFor the lowers in the custom color I would recommend ordering them in PRIMER ONLY and then simply having a local painter paint those doors the color needed. This has a few advantages as the primer only doors are very nice with our recent upgrade to the spray line. They require minimal work before application the paint coat.
