My mistake – I wasn’t accounting for the crown backer! Now it makes more sense.

Super helpful. Thanks, Chad. I see why you recommend the TFE depth to avoid the 3/4″ step-back. I am not sure how crown moulding would gracefully wrap that corner – the piece extending along the TFE from the wall to the front termination would then be forward of the piece extending along the face other of the cabinet.

In my case, it would be to hid the roborox dock. The robot would come out of the fake or omitted toe kick and the cabinet would hide the dock
