I’ve seen suggestions for end panels on cabinets to be 5/8″ wider than the cabinet to accommodate the door thickness. Is this the same for a slab door? I’m getting ready to order cabinets for my kitchen and some of them will be the Walnut Slab, which I assume would be 3/4″ plywood, but just wanted to confirm.
Yes, our standard is 5/8″ proud for the end panels on all door styles. It’s not to make the edge flush to the face of the doors, its more to have a slight step back of 1/8″ or more to ensure your eye is not drawn to door hinge adjustments to get the door to close flat against the cabinet case.
