I have Barker kitchen cabinets that are probably about 4 years old now and I’m looking for a piece of furniture to fill an empty space in my kitchen where I should have just added more cabinets but now years later I’m looking for something that will work in the space.
Has anyone tried to- or is it recommended to- use a cabinet as a stand alone piece of furniture, not connected to the rest of the cabinets? I’m looking at the 2 GLASS door pantry cabinet, I’d get it in shaker maple like my other kitchen cabinet uppers. From what I can tell, this cabinet comes with finished ends and all I’d have to purchase is a little toe kick piece if I want to add a toe kick. Am I looking at this correctly? We could still mount it to the wall so it’s not floating, but I don’t want it connected to my other cabinets, I’d leave a gap since my countertop has an overhang. Thanks!

Sure, our cabinets can be used as standalone units in various areas of the home. However, they should always be securely attached to wall studs rather than left freestanding, as they can become top-heavy and pose a tipping hazard—especially around children.

Please note that the exterior sides of the cabinet case will have visible construction holes, even if you select the clear maple interior option. For the best and most finished appearance, we recommend covering those sides with separate finished end panels.

Other than that, you can fully customize the cabinet size as needed to maximize usable space.
