We plan to have an appliance garage for our kitchen to hold a microwave. We are looking at your City Cabinets Line for our full kitchen. Rather than a lift uf door for our cabinet, we would like to have double pocketing doors. We plan this cabinet to be Width: 30″ Height: 18″ and Depth: 24″. We would like to use full overlay shaker doors for our full kitchen. Would you be able to custom build this particular cabinet with double pocketing doors for full overlay cabinet doors? We could modify a standard cabinet with pocketing hinges but would prefer to have the cabinet built with the hinges located and predrilled if possible. Is this something Barker or City Cabinets would consider offering on an upgrade basis?

Unfortunately, we do not offer single or double pocketing doors. The hardware is notoriously difficult to install and tends to fail over time, so we’ve chosen not to include it in our product line.
At this time, your options are limited to lift-up doors or standard wall cabinets with traditional side-hinged doors. Alternatively, you could order an exposed cabinet and separate doors, then modify them on-site to work with custom pocket door hardware but that route typically creates more complications than it’s worth.
Overall, pocket doors have proven to be problematic in both production and installation. We’re always on the lookout for better, simpler hardware solutions, but older options like tambour doors from the ’80s and ’90s—were also plagued with reliability issues.

Thank you for the feedback. Ordering a finished cabinet and adding doors along with pocketing door hardware from Blum or Knapp & Vogt could be a good option for us.
