        Hello,

I am leaning towards cabinets with hard maple and clearcoat. I am wondering if you can offer advice about how different the carcass ply will look compared to the face veneer maple w/ clear coat. I am trying to decide about finished ends as they are adding ~15 percent cost to my project, which might push me in another direction. Instead of the finished ends I would fill the screw holes with a maple dowel or color-matched wood filler. How different will the sides of the carcass look versus the face, specifically with maple clearcoat.

Also, are the carcasses finsidhed the same as the face veneer/door when clearcoat option is selected?

        Thank you very much, Daniel

The cabinet cases and cabinet doors are finished using different clear-coat systems. The cabinet cases receive a baked-on UV clear coat, while the cabinet doors are finished with a baked-on crystal-clear waterborne topcoat similar to the Sherwin-Williams Gallery product. We use the Acroma Pro industrial version of this system for our clear-coat doors, as it is the smoothest and most durable clear finish we have tested.

Because of these different finishing systems, the doors will appear slightly different from the cabinet cases. This is why we strongly recommend using finished end panels, which are finished with the same waterborne clear coat as the cabinet doors for a consistent appearance.

Attempting to fill the exposed construction holes with FastCaps can be visually unappealing. While some customers have done this with mixed results, it is generally not considered the proper or professional way to finish a cabinet run.
