This might be a dumb question but I want to know if finished tops can be ordered/installed so that they are closer to flush with the front of the cabinets rather than with the recommended 1 1/4 and 2″ overhangs on side and front.
These are custom depth storage cabinets (28″) that run wall to wall in a garage with low eaves, not kitchen cabinets.
Sure, you can make the countertop any size you like—even running the front edge flush with the cabinet door faces if you prefer. That’s perfectly fine. However, it’s more common to include a slight overhang to create a simulated drip edge, which helps protect the cabinet doors from moisture and wear. The larger overhang also provides a bit of extra usable countertop space.
