Being a home owner doing a DIY I’m not sure that I need to spend the extra money on the Premier edition. I have Home Designer and the Barker catalogs have imported fine and I am able to use them in my plan. Is there any reason, other than additional features, to upgrade to the Premier version?

There are a few additional features in the full version that I cover in the video series we did on installing and using the Chief Architect program. Most of these benefits are related to ease of use rather than necessity.

For example, you can create a schedule, which automatically generates a list of all cabinets shown in the plan view, including widths, depths, heights, and other details. This is helpful for quick reference and printing, but it is not strictly required, just helpful for when you add the order to the website for a quote/order.

Overall, Home Designer should work perfectly well as long as you are able to load our catalog into the program, which I have seen many other customers do without any issues. The additional features available in the full version are largely architectural in nature and, honestly, are not typically needed for a cabinet layout.
