We are preparing to launch a streamlined kitchen design service focused on practical layouts, accurate cabinet sizing, and plans that make it easier to price and order cabinets online.
This service is designed for homeowners, contractors, and remodelers who need a professionally planned kitchen without paying for a lengthy, fully customized design process at the beginning of the project.

During the initial launch, we will accept only five kitchen design projects. This will allow us to work closely with each client while finalizing the design process and service structure.

Please include your name, project location, approximate timeline, kitchen dimensions, and any available photos, measurements, sketches, architectural plans, or appliance information.
Streamlined Kitchen Design Package
The initial design package focuses on the cabinet layout, cabinet sizes, clearances, appliance placement, storage planning, and overall function of the kitchen.
This package does not include photorealistic renderings or final selections for wood species, paint colors, door styles, drawer box materials, or cabinet accessories.
Your design package will include:
- Professional kitchen floor-plan layout
- Wall elevation drawings
- Basic three-dimensional layout views
- Appliance placement and clearance planning
- Walkway, door, drawer, and cabinet-clearance review
- Recommended cabinet sizes
- Cabinet identification codes for each cabinet
- A cabinet schedule listing cabinet codes, widths, heights, and depths
- A plan designed around the cabinet lines available through our cabinet websites
How Cabinet Pricing Will Work
The streamlined design plan will provide the cabinet codes and cabinet sizes needed for your project. You can then enter those cabinet sizes directly into the cabinet lines offered through our websites.
The cabinet websites will calculate pricing based on the sizes and options you select. You will be able to choose your preferred wood species, door style, finish, drawer box material, interior components, accessories, and other available cabinet options.
Cabinet pricing is not included in the $1,000 design package because the final cost depends heavily on the materials, finishes, construction options, and accessories selected by the customer.
Optional Custom Cabinet Design and Quoting
After the streamlined design package is complete, customers may request a custom cabinet quote using the custom versions of the Barker Cabinets or City Cabinets product lines.
The custom cabinet process is intended for projects that require more flexibility, more detailed drawings, or options that are not available through the standard online cabinet configurators.
The custom cabinet process may include:
- Fully custom cabinet dimensions in increments as small as 1/16 inch
- Custom paint colors selected from available Sherwin-Williams paint colors
- Expanded cabinet construction and modification options
- Final door-style and wood-species selections
- More detailed cabinet elevations and drawings
- Improved three-dimensional design views using the selected materials and door styles
- Final cabinet sizing based on verified field measurements
- A project-specific custom cabinet quote
Custom Design and Engineering Retainer
If the customer chooses to move forward with a custom Barker Cabinets or City Cabinets project, a $5,000 non-refundable design and engineering retainer will be required before the final custom design and engineering process begins.
The retainer will be credited toward the final cabinet order. It covers the additional design, drafting, engineering, review, and project-specific work required to finalize cabinet sizes, door styles, wood species, finishes, custom modifications, and detailed drawings.
Before the cabinet order is released for production, the customer will be responsible for reviewing and approving the final drawings, cabinet specifications, appliance information, and verified field measurements.

The goal is not simply to produce an attractive rendering. The goal is to create a practical kitchen layout that can be accurately priced, ordered, manufactured, installed, and used every day.
Each design will be developed with real-world cabinet construction, cabinet manufacturing, installation, appliance clearances, storage needs, and ordering requirements in mind.
