New cabin build
Posted by Carol Greene on August 5, 2026 at 9:27 amWe are building a cabin in Colorado and want to use RTA cabinets. We’ll need cabinets for 3.5 bathrooms, a basement bar, mud room and maybe kitchen. How should I get started?

Sure! The best way to get started is to familiarize yourself with the basics of cabinet design and layout:

I recommend starting with the kitchen layout and getting that dialed in first. Once the kitchen is complete, the bathrooms are usually very simple.
Watch the kitchen layout video to learn how and where to use fillers. From there, the cabinets will generally fill the available spaces based on your existing plumbing and electrical locations.
Our cabinets are fully custom in 1/4-inch increments, so you can avoid having large or awkward-looking fillers that draw attention.
It is best to keep the design simple. For example:
-
A typical kitchen sink cabinet is 36 inches wide.
-
A dishwasher opening is 24 inches wide.
-
A refrigerator opening is typically 37 inches wide by 72 inches high, which accommodates most standard-size refrigerators.
-
A range opening is typically 30 or 36 inches wide.
Start by watching the kitchen layout video so you have the general knowledge needed to make everything work. Once you have a list of cabinet sizes, you can enter them directly into the website to receive a quote or place your order.
We do not provide comprehensive cabinet design plans. The customer is responsible for the design process and any related back-and-forth. This helps us keep our prices low while maintaining high-quality products.
