  • Full overlay calculation need 7/8 hinge

Posted by Gayle GAUTHIER on December 16, 2025 at 8:54 am

    Hi,

    After calculating my full overlay

2″ – 1/4″ 1.75″ divided by 2 = .875 or 7/8th. However I dont see that size hardware. Any suggestions? They are old cabinets. Would 3/4 overlay look weird?

I have a drawing with all the measurements I could send you for your expert opinion

All good. If you run into this in the future, the solution would be to downsize the hinge to a 3/4″ overlay. A 7/8″ overlay is simply not an option Blum offers for this application, so we would make the reveal slightly larger on that side.

Note that while we can adjust the hinges on site to fine-tune the reveals, you should not assume we can fully jump from a 3/4″ overlay to a 7/8″ overlay. The hinges do have some adjustment range, but a full 1/8″ is pushing the limits.
