Hello! Question regarding the dishwasher opening. I see that you offer a dishwasher appliance case https://www.citycabinets.com/product-p/bappliancecasestandard.htm, but ordering that at standard countertop height will make the height of the opening too short for most dishwashers I have been considering. My run of cabinets (L->R) is an end panel, 12″ 3 drawer, 24in dishwasher opening, 36″ sink and a 46″ BCC. Will the weight of the countertop have enough support over the dishwasher opening if I do not have the added support of an appliance case?

If I do not use a dishwasher appliance panel, should I order finished ends for the right side of the drawer cabinet and left side of the sink cabinet to complete the built-in look, or is that just a personal preference?

Yes, just leave a 24″ wide gap between the two cabinets. This is perfectly acceptable and very common. The appliance case is typically used in situations where there isn’t support on one side of the dishwasher opening—but it sounds like you have plenty of support on both sides.

Keep in mind that there are shorter models of dishwashers available that will fit the opening. They’re just not as popular as the taller models. If I remember correctly, these are considered ADA-style dishwashers.

Most people are ordering the Bosch 800 Series dishwashers—here’s the one I was referring to:

Thank you! That makes sense. Do you recommend having finished ends on either side of the dishwasher to complete the built-in look (where I circled in photo), or is that just a personal design preference?

Typically you would not add finished ends there. The DW would cover all of that space, so it would be a waste of panels as well as it would eat up 1.5″ of storage space. For a nice built-in look, use a fully integrated DW with a matching appliance panel on the face. We sell matching appliance panels here:
