  • Determine Cabinet Height Based on Needed Door Height

I’m in the process of blending a Salamander media cabinet and large shaker armoire together in my family room. To do this I’m adding a 42″ wide cabinet in between the two pieces. I want to match the door height of the media cabinet and it’s total height. The existing cabinet door is 27.5″ tall with a total cabinet height of 30.5″. If I order a cabinet with a flush toe kick (planning on trimming toe kick to proper finish height to match the current 27.5″ inset doors of media cabinet and add 1.25″ top) should I order a 31.5″ flush toe kick cabinet? Will this yield the correct 27.5″ full overlay doors I need to match general appearance to pull this off. My primary concern is to have doors on the lower cabinets with similar appearance and same size/aligned as much as possible. I can vary the toe kick height to yield correct total height with top. I will then add base trim across all 3 units.

If I’m off on my thinking please clarify what I should order to yield a door height of 27.5″ tall with a flush toe kick.

    Thank you,

    Todd

Sure, see the image below. You would need a 31.75″ tall cabinet to yield an exact 27.50″ door height. This applies to any B2D or B1D cabinet ordered with a 4″ tall flush toe kick.
