I’m almost ready to place my first order of laundry room cabinets and need assistance with cabinet sizing. The opening for the wall cabinets is 9’ 4” from drywall to drywall. I wanted to put symmetrical cabinets in the space and wanted to know if I order 4 cabinets at 28” wide or if I order 4 cabinets at 27.5” wide and have a 1” filler on each side.

Sure, you have the right idea, but the fillers typically used are about 2″ wide on each side for a wall-to-wall run. Have a look at the link and image I posted below.

You should take your total wall-to-wall dimension, finished drywall to finished drywall, and allow for a 2″ wide filler at each wall. From there, you can fill in the remaining space with whichever cabinets you want.
