Hello Chad,
First off, kudos to your site and training – love the business model. I knew nothing about cabinets at the beginning of this (“what’s a base cabinet??”), went through the documentation on your site and training videos, designed the cabinets with the software, and it’s all turned out flawlessly so far with my contractor (some of the pieces were smashed in shipping and your team is very easy to work with on correcting this).
Small piece of feedback with the trial version of Chief Architect: You can’t save your project, so I lost it a couple of times when the software crashed as you can’t shut it down or else you lose your work. I ended up purchasing the much cheaper “Personal” version of Chief Architect, Home Designer Suite so I could save, and that had the same interface so all of your training lined up. Only little hiccup was that I could open the template files you provide but couldn’t modify or save as. I attached a screen shot of the error message. If enough of your customers find a problem with not being able to save, it might be worth noting the Home Designer option on your software training page and provide Home Designer versions of those files.
Question: I have the finished end panels coming out 13/16ths so they are flush with the drawers and doors, but what about these L shaped fillers. On one side of a pantry, I’ve got the finished end panel so it’s flush with the door, but on the other side of the pantry is a filler piece. The training implies that this is installed flush with the cabinet, but in this case should you install it popped out 13/16ths so the sides are flush with the door on both sides of the pantry? I’ve got the same thing going on with the base cabinet in the same design on the other side against a wall. If this is necessary, I am hoping that the side of the filler you screw on to the side of the cabinet is “finished” (no one is on site for a few days here to check the piece). Thanks.

The side of the filler is indeed finished. I would pull them forward by 13/16″ to keep them flush with the door faces in most cases.
Thanks for the info on the Home Designer compatibility with the template. I’ll play around with it later and try to create a new template that works with both Home Designer and the upgraded Chief Architect.
