Hi – I’ve been ordering small wood samples of different cherry finishes, but upon receipt I clarified with Mr. Gerardo that these samples are new and will darken over time. I am trying to coordinate with existing cabinetry in an adjacent room. Are there any aged cherry wood samples so I can see a closer approximation to the final color? I’ve looked at your pictures of new vs aged cherry wood, but I really need to see in person to make sure it works. I ordered samples in clearcoat, tamarack, and chestnut finishes. Thanks!

Cherry will continue to age and darken over time, like it never stops aging, ever. We do not stock older samples, as they are sold and replaced with new ones.
Cherry, in particular, will keep getting darker and more red in appearance over the years and never truly stops deepening in tone. Clear cherry will show the most red variation. Tamarack will appear darker upfront, but the stain helps limit how much of the red undertone shows through over time. Chestnut has no red in the stain itself, so it keeps the underlying cherry looking more neutral and less red compared to the other options.
I went ahead and took some photos of the oldest cherry I have in the showroom. On top, you will see smaller samples of each stain and the clear coat. Notice the significant difference between the older, deep red cherry and the newer samples. The door on the bottom of the stack is likely more than 20 years old at this point. The crown molding sample is about 13 years old if I remember correctly. The wood samples are all less than 1 month old and have been hidden inside of a sample cabinet to prevent UV aging.
Unfortunately, I cannot sell the older cherry samples, as they are likely close to 20 years old at this point.

Thank you. Do you recall – is the aged cherry pictured finished with clearcoat or another stain?
